volleyballThe best volleyball women players in the central province of Ciego de Ávila at present, Rosanna Giel Ramos and Yanelis Rebeca Santos Allegne, appear among the preselected players who are getting ready to fight for the ticket available for the North, Central American and Caribbean area for the summer appointment of the five rings.

Giel, a central position player who impressed the fans at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, and Santos, a veteran, train at high altitude in Peru along with the rest of their colleagues, under the direction of Juan Carlos Gala.

Cuba, a former world and Olympic champion, is member of the qualifying group B of the of the Pre-Olympic tournament of the North, Central American and Caribbean Confederation (NORCECA), to be held from April 27 to May 6 in Tijuana, Mexico.

In the same group are Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago, and the host, while the A group will hold the Dominican Republic (another favorite), Puerto Rico, Canada and Honduras.

The winning team will get the passport to London, but the teams that fail to classify, though ranking the best, will have a second chance at a world event, scheduled for May in Japan.

Until April 2, the Cuban team will compete in Peru, home of the Latin Cup, before the teams of the Dominican Republic, Chile and the hosts.
