An educational multimedia on the Sabana-Camagüey GEF / UNDP Project will be available to managers, students, teachers and workers of the tourism sector, with the aim of developing an energy and sustainable tourism in fragile ecosystems of the country.
The CD contains articles, videos, audios, trivia and information from the marine and terrestrial biodiversity of the Sabana-Camagüey ecosystem, as well as manuals on good environmental practices in all areas in order to widespread them in all areas and departments of hotel facilities, as explressed by the author, Anisleidis Rivero Domínguez, the webmaster of the Ciego de Ávila Hotel and Tourism School.
The CD It also includes information on the characteristics of each tourist development zone, the different protected areas, the natural treasures and environmental progress in the five central provinces to which the cays of the archipelago belong (Matanzas, Villa Clara, Sancti Spiritus, Ciego de Avila and Camaguey), as well as data on the origin, evolution and importance of the cays, beaches and dunes of the region.
"The media is an important tool of consultation for tourism workers, as well as students and teachers of the hotel tourism schools all over the country having environmental sustainability in their basic training curriculum", said Eduardo Jiménez Veiga, executive coordinator of the Ministry of Tourism for the Sabana-Camagüey GEF / UNDP.
He added that out of the first edition, 100 copies will be distributed in various tourist facilities in the central region of the island, and, on a permanent basis, interested parties may consult it at the Center for Sustainable Tourism Development, located in the municipality of Morón.
