Rafael CorreaEcuador''s President Rafael Correa, said on Thursday in Ankara that he is considering his country''s participation in the upcoming Summit of the Americas scheduled in Colombia, which Cuba will not attend because of a U.S. boycott.

"Cuba is an American state," Correa said in the Turkish capital, where he arrived for an official visit in which he signed several trade agreements to strengthen bilateral ties.

The president described the U.S. blockade against Cuba as scandalous, and said that it breaks with all the principles of American and international law.

Correa also considered the colonization of the Falkland Islands unacceptable, and said these are issues that cannot be postponed and that are not discussed at the Summit of the Americas, so he is considering whether to continue participating in these meetings. (PL)
