Avilanian Culture and tradition in Expocuba |

A representation of the artistic talent of Ciego de Ávila will be present at the opening ceremony of the of the next summer activities to be held in July 7-8 in Expocuba, the largest fair in the country, located in Havana.
The show, entitled "Avilanian Identity", will feature the Telón Abierto (raised curtain) music dance esemble from the Major General Máximo Gómez Báez University. They won the gold medal in the last national festival of amateur artists sponsored by the University Student Federation. The Polichinela (Punch) children's theater troupe will also be present.
Other groups to attend the fair will be the Motivos Personales (personal reasons) trio, the Zancada (stride) theater group of the José Martí Artistic Brigade, humorist Randy, the Cuba Goes quintet and representations of Visual Arts and Literature. They will be accompanied by Havana-based Avilanian artists of the National Cuba Circus, among others.
"Besides the Expocuba central pavilion, the main presentation area, the small theater of the culture pavilion will also hold children performances. Entertainment activities will take place in areas outside the fairgrounds," said Carlos Martínez Chamizo, head of Planning and Cultural Communication Department in the province.
"Another action that will take place during this Avilanian culture day will be a meeting with artists, scientists, athletes, writers, broadcasters, journalists and others who by birth, marriage, working relationships or other type of link are related to Ciego de Ávila, but are not presently in this Cuban central province.
