Outstanding Bonds of Solidarity Between Cuba and Ecuador |

The sisterhood between Cuba and Ecuador, present since the struggle for independence, and endorsed by the warm friendship among Eloy Alfaro Delgado, the Ecuadorian patriot, and the Cuban José Martí and Antonio Maceo, was reaffirmed Thursday by Edgar Anibal Ponce Iturriaga, ambassador of the South American nation in the Island.
On the eve of the Ecuadorian civic celebrations, commemorating the anniversary of the first cry of independence in America, which took place in Quito on August 10, 1809, Poce Iturriaga visited the Baraguá refinery in Ciego de Avila, named after his nation and one of high yield in the last harvest. The diplomat said he was honored as in his homeland to commemorate the anniversary with the workers in that industry, who are responsible for the main economic, and thence he sent greetings to the workers of his nation.
He thanked also the training of Ecuadorian professionals on the Island and Health collaboration missions such as the Manuela Espejo, thanks to which people with physical disabilities, who did not received any medical attention before, are benefited now.
He said that the Cuban Revolution is a lighthouse that has guided the change process and integration in Latin America. He also presented a framed picture of President Rafael Correa and several books related to the history of his country.
The central Ecuador overfulfilled the last sugar production with an increase of more than 4 000 tons of refining regarding the previous year. The industry has also registered higher levels of product quality and a gain amounting to 10 million pesos, according to the sales to date, not including 22 000 tons of refining not marketed yet.
