Raul Castro Commends Civil Defense on Its 50th Anniversary (+ video) |

President Raul Castro sent a diploma to Cuba´s Civil Defense (DC) on its 50th anniversary in charge of defending the population and socio-economic facilities.
At the ceremony for its creation -on July 31st, 1962- Revolutionary Armed Forces Vice Minister, Army Corp General Ramon Espinosa, presented the diploma to the head of the CD, Div. Gen. Ramón Pardo.
Gen. Pardo told the media that fifty years later the DC renewes its commitment to keep its leadership as forewarner, always ready to share its experiences with other peoples.
At the ceremony was unveiled a seven-meter ferrocement sculpture of Andres Gonzalez showing the contrast between the rough forces of nature to Cuba´s solidarity. (PL)
