Members of Pastors for Peace Speak with Relatives of the Cuban Five |

The members of the 23rd US-Cuba Friendship Caravan spoke on Tuesday in this city with relatives of the five Cuban heroes unfairly condemned in that northern country for fighting terrorism.
At Havana's Frank Pais International Orthopedic Hospital, the caravanistas were updated on the case and were given details of the biased trial against Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero (Tony) and Fernando Gonzalez.
Elizabeth Palmeiro, Ramon's wife, expressed her gratitude to the visitors for their efforts so spread the reality of The Five.
Palmeiro argued that this is a purely political cause, which needs international solidarity and particularly that of the US people, so President Barack Obama makes use of his constitutional power to release these heroes.
The use of social networks and Web sites is also crucial, so youngsters, who represent the majority of Internet users, now about the cause of The Five, emphasized Antonio Guerrero Cabrera, Tony's eldest son.
For their part, the members of the Caravan took an interest in knowing how to increase solidarity work at a world level and specified that they won't abandon their efforts to achieve the return of these patriots to Cuba.
The over 60 activists of Pastors for Peace, coming from the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe, arrived in Havana on Saturday with some 100 tons of humanitarian aid, mainly destined to the health, education and sports sectors, which have been hit very hard by Washington's blockade on the island. (acn)
