The 23rd Pastors for Peace Caravan will pay tribute on the island to Reverend Lucius Walker, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the creation of this solidarity-with-Cuba group.

In a press conference in this capital, Kenia Serrano, president of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples informed that 23 buses donated to Cuba in previous trips of these solidarity initiatives will leave the Jose Marti Revolution Square on the 23rd for a tour around some of the capital's mail streets.

Upon their arrival to the Jose Marti Anti-imperialist Tribunal, the members of the 23rd Caravan will pay tribute to its founder, US Reverend Lucius Walker, who died in 2010, and who was also the main promoter of visits to bring donations to the island and messages of support for the Revolution.

Some 60 activists from Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, the United States and other nations make up the contingent that collects donations destined to alleviate the consequences the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the US have for the Cuban people, pointed out the official.

At present, the activists are touring 80 US cities, where they make collections and carry out solidarity actions.

From their arrival on July 21 in Havana to their departure on July 29, the members of this friendship caravan will carry out a program of activities, which includes tours of community projects and exchanges with Cuban experts, who will give them details on the updating of the national economic system.

They will also visit health centers and will hold meetings with relatives of the five Cuban heroes unfairly condemned in the United States for defending their homeland from actions by violent terrorist organizations based in south Florida. This time, the caravanistas will bring to Cuba medical equipment and consumables, school material and sports equipment, among other items. (acn)
