Cuba will present at the General Assembly of the World Peace Council, to be held from July 20th through the 23rd in Katmandu, Nepal, its social achievements and its accomplishments in the struggle for peaceful coexistence.
The president of the Cuban Movement for Peace, Augusto Valdes, pointed out that the active role of the Revolution in the struggle for world peace and the task of joining all peoples of the world in this battle to ease conflicts and economic crises will be defended at the meeting.
He highlighted the battle that takes place in international forums for the release of the five Cuban heroes unfairly condemned in the United States, and the struggle against the blockade that this country has imposed on Cuba for over 50 years now.
Valdes stressed that the Palestinian cause and the support for the Bolivarian Revolution led by Hugo Chavez continue to be among the political battles of total support at the very heart of the World Peace Council, of wide political and social repercussion at a global level.
In the upcoming meeting in Nepal, emphasis will be made on the defense of the rights of the peoples to work, education, civil and democratic liberties, and also on the struggle for justice and equality, against any type of neo-colonialism and imperialist control. (acn)
